If you, or your child using your computer, has installed Gamevance - you would have noticed by now constant pop ups and (even more annoying) that your PC is running at snails pace. This unfortunately is what Gamevance does to a computer.
So what is Gamevance?
Gamevance is basically a program which provides people with free games. To be able to have access to these games, you have to install the actual software. Once you do that, you can play a variety of games for free. The problem is that for the "privilege" of playing these games for free, you have to put up with the fact that someone is spying on you. Basically, this software looks at all your web-browsing behavior and websites you visit and then sends this information back to a server. The information that is gathered is then used to spam you with contextual advertising.
So if you visit sports-related websites, you might get ads for the latest Nike shoe for example. Or, if you like finance and real-estate related websites, you might get ads for Homes for Sale in Florida.
Gamevance is often mistaken as a virus. It is not. Gamevance Ads are actually adware part of a bigger family of threats known as spyware.
So what's the problem with Gamevance?
The problem is that once installed, it is extremely difficult to uninstall. If you go to the Windows Add/Remove Programs function you might be able to remove the actual file from the folder, but it always leaves remnants of the program deep inside your registry. So files such as ars.cfg, gamevance32.exe, gamevancelib32.dll, gvtl.dll, gvun.exe, and gamevance32.exe and gamevancelib32.dll - are extremely difficult to remove manually.
How to Remove Gamevance Completely
To remove all traces of Gamevance completely from your PC, you should download a good spyware remover. It will detect and remove Gamevance automatically without harming your computer. It will delete all the little hard-to-remove files stuck deep in the Windows registry.
